In May 2021, the makers of the film announced that the film would be in two parts and the second part would release in 2022. In the ending scene of the first part of the film, Pushpa: The Rise, the title of the film was revealed as Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film Pushpa 2: The Rule was officially launched in August 2022 with a traditional puja ceremony in Hyderabad.

Although some scenes of Pushpa 2 were already shot before the release of the first part, the film's writer Sukumar said that he has slightly changed the story and is going to reshoot the entire film. Principal photography for the film began in October 2022.
